Curtis was born to Carmencita Ojales from Bolinao Pangasinan in Australia and James Ernest Curtis Smith an Australian lawyer, was born on the 25th of July 1970, at Yarrawonga. Her father married Ojales, a Filipina from Bolinao Pangasinan in 1982. Jasmine her younger sister also performs as an actress. Clare was a mother-in-law in their father's family. She died at just 4 months old in 2007.
